Really well drawn, I'm surprised because this is the first time I've heard the name Joe Kubert, but the fact is that a lot of interesting comics were never published in Germany. But Kubert's Tarzan stories, of which there are some sample pages on the web, seem familiar to me, perhaps some of his Tarzan stories were published in Germany after all. For a long time, it was customary here for publishers not to provide any information about the writer and illustrator.

ComicKraut, Joe Kubert was a giant of American comic books. It's a shame you didn't get to see his work in Germany. He started working professionally when he was 14! On CB+ you can follow his development almost from the beginning. Unfortunately some of his best known stuff was published by DC Comics and isn't in public domain, like "The Viking Prince" in Brave and Bold and the first appearance of the Silver Age "Hawkman." Mostly, though, he was connected with Robert Kanigher's war comics and the "Sgt. Rock" character. In his later years he ran a comic art school.

Kubert drew some nice stuff for St John's horror books like Weird Horrors and Strange Terrors.

We have indeed some of his earliest works here. One of the first (if not the first) characters he worked on was Volton, published by Holyoke, you can read all of his appearances here:

Out of 5 total issues, the first 4 have art by Joe Kubert.
