The Dick Tracy comic strips were first published in 1931, and are still protected by copyright - they will begin to fall into public domain in 2027. If anyone has additional info, please share.

I found that many Jack London short stories that would otherwise have been copyright protected fell into the public domain because he had sold the stories and rights to a magazine that went out of business and nobody had renewed the copyrights.
