As an animal rights advocate I knew going into this it would not be for me, but keeping an open mind isn’t a bad thing. The opening fishing story wasn’t bad and had value, I’m sure, for kids in those days who were trying to learn more about it. I was very impressed by the nature art, the sea, clouds, horizons, the fish, these all seemed very evocative of the real scenery, but with poetry of place and lulling movement added. Unfortunately, the art of the characters was very dry and amateur looking. Each character had an unwavering expression on their faces from panel to panel. Obviously drawing people was not this artist’s strong suit. I wouldn’t recommend this comic m but I’m very grateful I had the chance to check it out.
