So being 48, kinda makes me a "young pup" in the comic scene if the surveys accurate.  ;D

What an interesting article and idea.  I doubt that most readers are 65 but, and it's a big but, I was at a mart in Glasgow, in the University Union and if it hadn't been for students coming in to see what was going on, then the majority of punters there were 40 and upwards.  Sitting in the cafe I was chatting to a number of fans and none were under 40 and most were, like me, in their 60's.  Also, I couldn't agree more with the author's view on violence in modern comics and, oh!, those terrible costume designs on freedom Fighters.
Kids do seem to be out of touch with comics and, I believe, would prefer to spend their cash on games, phones, etc.

3 bucks for a comic or a dollar for a phone app. You do the math

I think there is an inaccuracy here. I've been to a lot of comic book conventions and the median age seems to be 20s or 30s with the other age groups pretty well represented as well. There had to have been some vagueness in the questions. I could believe 25% or more of the 65+ crowd having been comic book fans in the past. Or 25% of the comic book collectors are 65+. (young people don't hang on to paper products, I know because I didn't). I'll ask my comic shop owner but I'm certain his experience is contrary to this as well. Also, are they including like Garfield books and stuff in the survey?

Interesting!

The article seems to say that 25% of readers of comic books and/or comic strips are 65 or over.
Comic strips in newspapers most likely have an older average age reader than comic books.
In that case, the average of 'just' comic book readers would have to be less than 25% to obtain a combined average for both at 25%.

On the other hand, long trips and hotel stays such as going to a convention more likely appeals a younger demographic.  The percentage of 65+ readers at a comics convention would likely be notably less than the actual percentage of 65+ comic book readers.

I wonder what the results would be from a survey aimed solely at getting the percent of 65+ comic book readers

heh, When I'm 65+ I'm going to conventions. I'm going to stand in front of the booths with all the new comics and say "You know, in my day, comics didn't come in virtual reality. We used paper. And we liked it!"
