Happy Birthday Mr. Eisner...
« on: March 06, 2011, 10:47:52 AM »

Just thought I'd say this here, where I believe it should be appreciated, if Will Eisner was still alive today would be his 94th birthday. So, Happy Birthday Mr. Eisner, the world is a better place because of the work you did, comic books are a smarter medium because of you, and you will always be one of the true giants in the history of the comic book.

Couldn't agree more, except to add that he was a real gentleman.

I got to meet Eisner once while I was at the Kubert School (around 1980-81, IIRC) when he came to talk to the school.  He was just getting back into comics then and had only recently done his first graphic vovel-A Contract With God.  He graciously autographed my copy for me which I still have and cherish.
It was neat watching him interact with Joe Kubert as Joe had once been a student of sorts working under Eisner learning his craft from a master.

Best
