Newbie Help - Unknown Comic
« on: August 29, 2011, 12:13:16 PM »

Hi all!

I have a comic thats been bugging me for ages, and was hoping someone my have some ideas! Its an issue of the Blue Beetle, but it has no month or issue stamp on the front, just the circle with 6D and Steamline - American Comics. Inside the front page the footer reads Printed by The United Anglo-American Book Company, then the address. The style of the title on the front is the same as Blue Beetle issue #16 onwards (Italic BLUE and bold upright BEETLE) but the cover art isn't the same as any I've seen from #16 to 39, other than that it has no information. The style inside is very '40's and is printed through out in black and white.

I'm more of a collector of silver age, so this is out of my sphere. Hope someone has some ideas or can point me in the right direction

Thanks

Chris.

It might help if he can scan the cover and/or first page - surely that would qualify under fair use?

Streamline/United Anglo-American was a British company that reprinted (in black and white) American comics from a variety of publishers.  Most of their reprints that I've seen references on were from the late 1940s and 1950s.
Given that criteria I would guess, sight unseen, that your comic probably reprints either the Fox or Charlton Blue Beetle stories from this period.
