Bulletman no. 13
« on: February 02, 2014, 03:33:26 PM »

I've been enjoying the Bulletman Comics and noticed that Bulletman no. 13 is not on the site. Is that one going to be added? Can you tell why it isn't available? Thanks!  :)

When a comic like Bulletman isn't on site, it's simply that no-one as yet has a copy to scan and upload.  Everyone on CB+ is a volunteer, giving their free time to preserve these comics and promote the hobby, so sometimes we just have to wait with fingers crossed. ;)

That's right.  Overstreet states that there is no #13.  In the same way that there is no Phantom #29, despite my trying to find it for quite a while before I checked the guide!
Anyway, that explains it all.  Thanks movielover.
Modifying this to add that there was a British Bulletman reprint comic.  Published by Arnold Book Co. (I think) and there was 1 issue numbered 10 that appeared in 1951.  This needs confirmation as the guide seems a bit ambiguous to me.  Never seen it.

Interesting. Thanks for the information about that. Anyone have an idea why they didn't publish an issue no. 13? Was it an oversight, maybe?

How does one say, nobody knows. There are several ideas floated about, one being that it was skipped because of World War 2 ending (#13 was to be Winter 1945). Another is that the the printing company might have been in bankruptcy. However, a 13 cover apparently was printed (different printer).

New to the site. I love this site and have been using it for many years as one of my main research sites, not sure why I haven't signed up till now but glad I did and after going thru some of the forums sounds like they are a lot of knowledgeable people here. I am looking forward to picking the brains of some of this knowledge as I have a lot of questions and I also am hoping to contribute to the history of comics from the golden age.
I think Movielover has seen my post to this cover of Bulletman #13  on a site that I posted to earlier. I have ( I believe ), the only cover to issue #13, and this is backed up by the insignia that I also have. There was a lot going on at this time in the world, with the war going on and ending, paper shortage etc...  and along with all this stuff going on, the press that this was being printed at was supposedly owned by none other than the infamous Mr. Victor Fox. Mr Fox's press, ( or whoever owned this press ), printed quite a few of Fawcett comics along with other comic companies, but that's another story,  He was also in trouble at this time and was reportedly going into or into bankruptcy, so right at this time one could pick the poison as to why this issue was never printed, it could be none of the above also. The insignia I have to go along with this #13 issue says second class postage was to be paid at Wilkes Barre PA, which is where the printing press was, when they changed the issue to #15 on it, the published issue says second class postage ( this usually indicates where the comics were printed ), was greenwich conn, which indicates they switched printers of this comic, this could also be another reason for not printing #13, the time it took to get the plates from one printer to the other, so this is what I know about this comic based on the material I have, it all seems to fit, one way or the other. The only difference between #13 and #15 is the issue # and issue date, I cannot say anything about the story as I only have the cover proof and insignia page ( which by the way, looks like it just came off the press ). Let me know if you want to see this and I'll try and get a picture to you all somehow and answer any questions you have about it. Hope this helps, and thank you, Comic book + for letting me join the site.   ;)

I am not an avid computer user or that fluid with computers, getting there. The gcd note with #13 Bulletman was my contribution to that site last year, one of the very first and few I made last year with that site, I considered that a post.

No problem, I'll give it a try. What is the policy about putting links on here for this purpose. I have started to upload some of this collection on photo bucket where I have some other very interesting covers, like Charles Atlas first and only attempt at putting his own comic book out etc... Ok , below will be the cover of #13 Bulletman and the insignia page, which without it I would have been lost in researching this as I am only a few years into this and with every cover I start researching it brings a lot of history to the table. Thanks for the interest, and let me know what you think.
I just tried uploading the photos and they are to big, if I can do the Photobucket thing I'll be able to do it but I do not want to break any rules, after just signing up. I am not good with computers and it would take me a few days just to figure out to resize them. Let me know if it's ok.

If you have uploaded them and have an address you can make them an image include link ... bottom far left icon on edit bar ... but make the image say 800px wideish ?? And you can also put a link to the big mother
one.

As for linking rules we wear the Tin Badge in not allowing pirated, illegal or "adult" material ... apart from that we have no stinking rules!

And if you have summat that you want to publicize you can always shout it out in our Shameless Self Promotion Section https://comicbookplus.com/forum/index.php/board,23.0.html

ALL FOR FREE!!! :)

Thanks Mark, just looking to help and give back a little. I have used your site more times than I can count for reasearching. Not looking to promote or sell anything, just love the history of these old comics and think I have some material that no one has seen before and hopefully can pick the brains of some of you all. I'll try and stay on track, thanks again.
