I would love to have seen that desk that you got with that typewriter for only $1 more advertised on page 2. I figured even back in 1941, it would have to be made of cardboard. Sometimes the old ads are the best thing about these old comics!

I'd say you're right about that desk--"made of sturdy fibre board." I wonder if anyone put 600 pounds on it to test it out. On the other hand the Remington Noiseless Portable was a fine machine. I own one and it still churns out those 8.2-inch-wide lines without a hitch. The ad is rather vague about telling you you'll be making payments of way more than 10 cents. Sending in the coupon only gives you information about getting the typewriter; I'll bet some readers were surprised not to receive the typewriter by return mail. Assuming anyone ever sent in these coupons.
