It's hard to say.  None of the regulars here seem to have given it much thought, and the couple of people who've asked in the past never returned (muahahahahaaa...).

However, the most information we've gotten was in this thread:

http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,921.0.html

If you have any luck, please give us a heads-up.  As the things become more popular, it's obviously going to become FAQish.

I have an iPhone and all I do is:

1) UNZIP the cbr or cbz files...
2) take the JPGs and put them into iPHOTO
3) when my iPhone is hooked up to the computer it syncs up
4) then I choose the JPGs and copy them into the iPhone

vola

portable Golden-reading... no need for fancy free or purchase-able APPs...

Well, I guess that would work, but how can you possibly call yourself an iPhone owner if you're not a comically big spender with millions of useless apps...?

My knowledge of the iPhone is that the more APPs you stuff it with the more problems you will end up having and RESTORE will be your only option...

iPhone is just a light MAC that never turns off... only goes in sleep mode... every 2 to 3 days you have to do a hard shutdown, wait a minute, then reboot it...

now onto the comics part of it...

Fancy APPs that supposedly help you read comics on the iPhone are... well overkill... imho...

I was actually more making fun of the iPhone "cult" than you (I had envisioned the idea that Steve Jobs might come to your house to forcibly reclaim your iPhone because you're not consuming enough), but I really appreciate the information.  I only have a vague understanding of the thing based on what I know about Apple's culture and how I would produce such a thing if I needed to.

"I was actually more making fun of the iPhone "cult" than you"

I figured that... there are just too many cool attitudes signed up at GA. :)

Now...

What is the neat thing about having the iPhone is that it also is a scanner of sorts.

picture this (pun intended):

Place a PUBLIC DOMAIN comic book on the table.
make sure there is lots of light on it.
place iPhone over it
target your image
take a picture
email said picture

fast cheap scanner

over 15 years ago, I had clients fax me their work, sometimes logos that they needed vectorized...
I hooked up my MAC to be the fax machine.
the fax came in, the MAC instantly made a jpg file of the fax
and I used the JPG to trace the work in illustrator

VOLLA!!! another cheap scanner solution...

GOSH!!! Will technology every stop giving us options to make this easier...

I scanned in all my comics (which are downloadable off of my domainsite) into my iPhone...

It really does look cool when you are in a meeting and want to show off the stuff...

especially when you have a graphic portfolio of work... it has a cool-factor that just can't be beat...

why carry a large portfolio... bring the iPhone to the meeting and flip thru your work... videos... comics... etc...

GOSH!!! Will technology every stop giving us options to make this easier...
