Maple Leaf Better Comics April 1941 Ironman
« on: July 07, 2009, 12:43:01 AM »

Hello all I am new here, from Northern Ontario Canada I got hold of a golden comic in an attic of an old house, I did some research and found that there may be only 1-10 copies around. I also found the following web sites.
http://www.dundurn.com/invaders/home.html
http://epe.lac-bac.gc.ca/100/200/301/lac-bac/guardians_north-ef/2009/www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/superheroes/t3-200-e.html
http://www.cbc.ca/arts/walkoffame/ironman.html
I am posting my front and cover pics.

Hello Penny,
Welcome to GAC where we share FOR FREE scans of GA books.  If you had scans of this rare book we would be thrilled to host them.  But to use your first post to try and sell a book isn't good form.  As a rule we don't encourage people to use the board to sell their books.  I hope any future posts will be on a less material focus.

Members - if you wish to talk to Penny about buying this book please use her email.

If anyone here buys the book I hope they will consider scanning it as there likely wont be another chance.

Enjoy the free scans Penny and feel free to join in on any of the other topics.  For instance I'm curious how you came to find such a rare book that likely only a Canadian would truly appreciate?

Sorry I broke a rule, my son found it when he was working in an attic of an old house, he found a couple of Robin Hoods 1941 era as well however they have no covers, just the books, this one had the covers turned in and i was surprised when I opened it to find it had both covers. I tried to post the pics how do i do it on your sight.

Ok Penny.  Please feel free to read the FAQ in the Yellow Bar at the top of each page.  It covers most problems, rules, etc for newbies.

Interesting story, the book looks in pretty good shape considering.  I'm guessing you don't want to risk your sale scanning it (a darn shame) but the Robin Hoods being coverless their value will be considerably less - perhaps they could be scanned?  If they haven't already been scanned.

Our Canadian section on the site - Clink here - http://tinyurl.com/njkl86

We have three Robin Hood issues - perhaps your missing cover is on one of them.

Maybe penny could get somebody to scan it, and then post the scans after the book has been sold?  just a thought.

It's always fun to learn more about Canada's Golden Age comics!

The CBC article was interesting, but I found it odd that the author, Brad Mackay, states "The cover of issue No. 2, for example, features simple black and white art ...", while 123penny's photo clearly shows some color.
