The last available SPL for the moment and I feel like I’m learning something new every day – I’d never come across the Peewit Gang before. Lovely work from Mike Hubbard – full of life – page 12 stands out in particular.
The odd thing is – this is actually a very good story – and there I was expecting it to be a kind of drivelling Famous Five knock-off. The characters of the three main kids are very well defined – Ernest’s cynical disdain; Henry’s surly goodwill and Judy’s quiet leadership. There’s a totally unexpected twist at exactly the halfway point and it builds to a genuinely exciting climax – well worth a read.
(Page 45 – expressions on the kids’ faces – Great work from Hubbard)
