Epic blonde-in-red-dress cover - or in this case blonde-sleuth-in-red-woollen-dress as this is Lesley Shane at large.

Amazingly, the story opens with Lesley legally acquiring what appears to be amphetamines (associated with ‘recklessness’ and ‘confidence’ in the late 50s) to help her unwind after a case – Bennies weren’t banned in the UK until 1964 when understandably worries about addiction began to grow.

An intriguing mystery that begins in an English seaside resort, stretches back in time to the war and across space to the Eastern sector. Who is bumping off the members of the Darmstadt Escape Club and why? A war of attrition builds to a clattering climax in a commie churchyard.
