Paw Broon – multitudinous thanks for gathering these strips together in this way – like a brand new publication with the cover and all.
I’ve always been a big Sexton Blake fan, since watching the under-rated Laurence Payne TV series in the sixties. Since then, I’ve read a lot of the early stuff and I’m just catching up with the later incarnations. I’m particularly looking forward to Mark Hodder’s new novel due out in April. With luck, it might lead to a new TV show, if the Beeb has any sense.
These strips are so well drawn by ? I loved the old-style racing car in the first story – brought back memories of Sterling Moss, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham and their ilk. Each story is a slice of British social history with its intricate backgrounds, activities, landscapes and costumes of the day. A remarkable experience!
