Beautiful first panel on 'Moore of the Mounted' from Meskin. Page 20. Looks like a photograph. Just try to draw anatomy twisted like that and see how far you get.

It was done perfectly!  That's EXACTLY the angle the torso should be related to where both legs are for that move, which is also a Nordic skiing move up that slight rise.  I know about that, as I've been Nordic skiing well over 2000 days in my life. The rear leg and foot are also perfectly placed, needing to be up in the air, needed to provide power to move forward as the man pushes up the grade.  Not only does the artist know his or her human anatomy but also knows how one moves in the snow, and  kinesiology related to snowshoeing and skiing.  Very impressive!  It's a lot better than looking at the early '40s drawing of many of the Fox artists, for example.
