If he hadn't been born in the more normal way, the comics industry would have had to create him with CRISPR technology in a test tube.

Not content with saving the British comic book industry in the 1980s with the launch of 2000AD, Misty and Jinty, Pat Mills is back AT THE AGE OF 73 with the launch of a whole new world in Spacewarp:

Don't tell anyone, but I used to quite like Romeo and Valentine, the two comics my older sister used to have delivered in the early sixties. I guess that trapped in copyright hell, we won't see those again for a century or more.

Meanwhile, Pat's memoir on 2000AD, "Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave!" could easily have passed as the Government's slogan for the current emergency :>

My only issue with Pat's Jurassic Punx is why would anyone want to save Liverpool? :>

Some terrific preview shots now available:

Mills is now referring to a Mills Comic Universe!

Spacewarp is available for pre-order from Amazon. You can't help wondering if Spacewarp will rise to rival 2000AD - to do that, I guess it needs a really strong lead character?

The thing about the proposed concepts, is that to me they all look terribly derivative. Even DC with its Dark Mulitverse has gone in this direction. There are dozens [and I do mean dozens] of independent comics which look exactly like this. But maybe not so professional.
If there is going to be a 'revival' of comics, we would expect to see something actually radically different, not just pretending to be.
There is actually [believe it or don't] some interesting work coming out of the majors. DC is currently doing stand-alone stories in some of its major titles, rather than complicated many-episode 'arcs'. And yes, I said some, not all. I don't mind Marvel's 'Strange Academy' which has the major Marvel Magic characters [see what I did there?] setting up a school ala Wolverine's X-men school.

Sorry to be a wet blanket but I'm with Panther on this one.  Anyway, I'm not a big Pat Mills fan.  His columns for Comics something or other - I forget the title - seemed very self- centred and preachy.  Also, a lot of his material is humourless, imo.
To be honest, if Spaceship Away didn't save British comics, I don't know what will. But I know I'm old and out of date, so I'm probably wrong.
