Who ever thought it would be effective to use grasshoppers to sell breakfast cereal (especially when drawn realistically)? Most people don't like finding bugs of any kind in their kitchen, and it's hard for me to imagine that would have been all that different back when this was made!
The only successful bug mascots for food that I can think of are bees, usually because of the honey connection, and they are usually drawn cartoony and cute.
But it's fun to ponder over this strange little book, so thanks for sharing!
