Of course it's derivative (let's see, I think I spotted Watchmen, Superman even Blade Runner - perhaps you could see more) but then what isn't? At least it should provide some decent throwaway entertainment.

Besides, if only a few of the many pennies earned from this goes towards helping Albion Rovers achieve their ambition of becoming a soccer superpower (or at least to convincingly beat Annan) then it can't be a bad thing.

They have waited till July 9 to release it, which I think was the right move.
It is likely to be my first visit back to to a theatre.

I'm not a Ghostbusters fan, neither am I normally a fan of reboots, I would rather see something original.

I don't fancy the LOKI film.  Never liked the character and Hiddleston was, imo, boring, unthreatening and a waste of space in The Avengers film.

Well, we agree to disagree. And that's good and healthy.
We have had different exposures to those actors from the start. 
Owen Wilson:-  My first exposure to Owen Wilson was the two films he made with Jackie Chan,
'Shanghi Noon' and 'Shanghi Knights'. Far from Jackie's best films, by that time I don't think he was doing his own stunts, but he was an excellent foil for Jackie and the films did serve to revive Jackie's  profile in the West. And yes, you either love him or hate him.
I see that there is a third, 'Shanghi Dawn' just announced. Will Jackie ever retire?
Tom Hiddleston:- An actor of a much better quality.
He worked with Kenneth Branagh in Branagh's version of 'Wallender', Was excellent in the adaptation of Le Carre's 'The Night Manager' and in his portrayal of Hank Williams in the biopic, 'I saw the light' , and I see he played Coriolanus in the National Theatre Live: Coriolanus (2014) I'm going to have to track that one down. It seems to be on Video. 
While I have been writing this, my back-brain has been working. Both Hiddleston's Loki and everything Owen Wilson has ever done are examples of what we in Australia call 'Smartarses' or 'Clever Dicks'. Would I be correct, Paw, in saying you have a very low tolerance for this type?
I love watching Hiddleston play LOKI because he so obviously enjoys it and he makes it look so effortless.
And his Hank Williams gets a 10 out of 10 for me.

It's probably because I'm a grumpy old man.  I watch very few modern films and haven't seen many of the superhero movies right through.  I've seen a couple of Jackie Chan films but see no reason to watch others. At the time, I enjoyed early Chow Yun Fat thrillers.  Not sure how I feel about them now.
As for Branagh, can't take him, especially after the abomination of Murder on The Orient Express.  We have tried both versions of Wallender.  Tried but didn't go back to them. The only advantage of the original is no Branagh.
I am conflicted as I respect your knowledge and opinions; it's just that I can't find a trace of personality in Hiddleston. Oddly, I enjoyed some parts of Justice League, and bits of Wonder Woman.  My problem with WW has always been the gods stuff.  I prefer the DC cartoons.  Some of them are great fun, imo.
Let's disagree.  It is, "good and healthy".

If there was ever a movie ruined by a moustache,that would be it. I'm an aficionado of Alfred Hitchcock and his approach to filming mystery and suspense. He didn't always get it right. Years ago I read  Hitchcock by Fran?ois Truffaut

which is a series of interviews with Hitchcock, film by film. That should be an action film-makers bible.But most current directors show very little evidence of ever having actually watched, let alone understood, many of the classic films. [That's my grouchy old man rave] These days I watch a trailer and usually don't go and see the film. I watched the Orient Express trailer, saw evidence of ego but little evidence of understanding how to film that kind of narrative. That was enough for me.
I can see why people like Wallender and can appreciate the professionalism, but it's not my cup of tea.
Co-incidentally the latest Frew Phantom comic is part one of The Orient Express, featuring the 17th Phantom and set in 1887, Just after Queen Victoria's Jubilee. I'll take this story over Branaghs film!

I saw Branagh live doing a Shakespeare comedy before he was famous - he was good - but Murder On the Orient Express bombed artistically - no tension at all. I couldn't believe they'd commissioned a follow-up.

A little known and vastly under appreciated martial arts style film is "Confessions of an Opium Eater" with Vincent Price as the titular star character.

Ugh. That Jupiter's Legacy trailer bored me to tears.

There were glimpses of potential that peaked out here and there, but the trailer overall told me the series would most likely be a slog to get through.

Reminds that when I was in London, eons ago, I worked in Oxford Street. Just out the back door was Soho.
Not far away, by Australian standards of distance anyway was a house with one of those historical plaques.
This one stated, Thomas De Quincey lived here and gave the dates.
I am definitely going to have to watch this film.

Mark Miller is talking up the concept of a spin-off series - but I'm not convinced. How good will a spin-off of a failure be?

The jupiter's legacy netflix series is extremely tedious. They constantly intercut between current time and the 1920s. While such things don't have to always be bad & can be good when used well, this series does not use them well at all. They cut in at the most obnoxious times, they drag on waaayyyy too long, and 95% of all the footage from the 20s is 1) incessant yammering and 2) completely irrelevant to anything. Only a grand total of about 20 minutes of the 1920s scenes contribute to the story, the rest is all just filler to pad the run time.
I've never read the comic, didn't even know it existed until after I saw the netflix series, so I can't sayhow well the show reflects the source material, but the show on it's own is a tedious slog.

I enjoyed the series and I'm amazed they spent so much time and money just to cancel after one series, I'm not at all convinced in their sincerity with the spinoff. Why cancel? Could it be ratings (we won't know as they don't reveal them), bad feedback? But Netflix very rarely cancel their own shows after one season even with negative feedback. Or could it be that in these woke times, the cast wasn't diverse enough?

With Marvel struggling creatively, if not financially, now their storylines have reached a natural conclusion, this was a great opportunity for the Millarverse to explode in popularity. This can't have been the start they hoped for.

I agree absolutely Greg. It makes no sense to spend $200m on a series and then cancel it - especially when it was the most-watched-show on Netflix w/b May 3rd.

Also, it completely undermines the strategy of developing a Netflix Millerverse to rival Marvel and DC. What was the guy thinking who signed the cancel order?

It would have been perfectly feasible to have revamped the show for series 2 to include greater diversity if that was the problem - or to overcome any other problems that were seen (it's true, some episodes were a bit slow - the editors need their heads banged together). The title is a bit of a downer but that can be remedied too - series two could have been JL2 - Lady Liberty's Quest  or some such.
