Pin-Up Art

In these woke days, it doesn't do to dwell on this topic too long without being accused of being some stone-age barbarian - but nevertheless pin-up artists were an important sideshow of golden age pulp art and fiction. I'm sure we've all heard of Gil Evgren:

More recently, I came across Andrei (Andrew) Tarusov, a young Russian who is rapidly making his name in both Russia and the States. I like the lightness of his imagery with its nods back to the golden age, so I'm happy to share it with you:

I warn you though - the backlash against Andrei is already growing......

And here's the 'outrageous' calendar in question (scroll down the page to see each month):

Notice how frequently rags like the Sun use inflammatory language like 'Fury!' and 'Rage!' ?

All it really does is give the site a lot of hits. And they are cynical enough to know that too.

Those idiots should be bashed over the head with our wooden clubs.  ;)

Nothing against Andrei's very nice artwork, but only the shot of the scientist with the thigh slit in her skirt struck me as overtly sexual, and as a follower of Kittyhawk (Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki) I didn't think the breasts were all that big. Funny how straight women seem to be more extreme when it comes to sexy women, but the mentally challenged "woke" would probably claim they have "internalized misogeny".

Funny how some paintings were very close to the reference pic, but others had significant changes. Just the artist deciding to deviate from the reference pic or is the actual reference pic missing?
