Not to fault the math, but were Fox comics really that much worse than 90 percent of the other stuff that was being published? Anyway, wouldn't you rather have had a completely doable Blue Beetle Whistle instead, so you could summon him when you got into a tough spot? __________

Interesting that of all the places they could have put the coupons, they chose the top of the inside front cover -- the very piece that would be stripped and sent back to the publisher (distributor?) for credit...

__________ As for Kooba Cola, it appears that it actually was available in (at least) a very limited supply. https://www.facebook.com/koobacola

__________ And why can't we use code to create paragraph breaks any more?

I'm sure the placement of the coupon was 100% deliberate.  My guess is they figured the lack of the coupon would discourage kids from buying stripped copies.  Or, if you want to be even more cynical about Fox's general business practices, he was probably hoping kids would vandalize the books in the store to get the coupons, making the books unreturnable so he got paid for them.

Looking at Victor Fox's entire career in business (especially his businesses before publishing, I'd guess that your guesses are correct on BOTH counts.
