I'd never even heard of this book. Though the cover says "adventures of the Radio Patrol" this isn't an adaptation of the long-running "Radio Patrol" newspaper strip. IMDB says the serial was released in 1933, the same year that the newspaper strip began in the Boston Daily Record as "Pinkerton, Jr." Hearst bought the strip and launched it nationally in 1934 as "Radio Patrol." Maybe he saw this comic and thought it was a catchy title. By the way, in the serial Bumps O'Neill was played by everyone's favorite wagonmaster, Ward Bond.
