In his third adventure (p.30) Rocket Man is referred to by the name Spurt, maybe the original name of the character? And in The Invisible Terror, the guy they call Cosmo has a big K on his chest. A little identity uncertainty throughout!

Brilliant, K1ngcat! I missed that one. Rocketman is none other than our old pal Spurt Hammond from very early issues of Fiction House's Planet Comics. The logos have been stripped off and replaced with story titles and Spurt's headgear has been redrawn slightly (in the original he wore a sort of hoodie with goggles). The Venus story is from Planet #8. I haven't looked up the other stories yet.

On another forum someone nominated Spurt Hammond as the Golden Age hero whose name sounds most like a porn star.

I found the other Rocketman / Spurt Hammond stories in early Planets. "The Invisible Terror" comes from Captain Flight #9, published by Ajax-Farrell in 1945. There the hero was named Red Rocket and he wore an "R" on his suit. In this reprint they've renamed him Cosmo...but instead of a "C" they give him a "K". Maybe the spacesuit makers didn't spell very well...Kozmo?

BTW, the first story in Rocket Man also appears in Captain Flight #4 under the name Rock Raymond, now I don't know where Spurt Hammond fits in.  :o
