https://youtu.be/wpaCqKF9WscKája Saudek (born Karel Saudek; 13 May 1935 – 26 June 2015) was a Czech comics illustrator and graphic artist. He was considered one of the best artists of Czech comics. He has been called the "King of Czech comic books".
However, Kája Saudek was not only the author of bold comics, but also a skilled promotional graphic artist and artistic solitaire successfully moving between film, applied graphics, illustration and free painting. The artist's peak works, mostly created during the 1960s, blend the atmosphere of the time with an extremely impressive artistic handwriting, unique even in a global context.
His specific artistic work has also complemented several films and the popular educational television series Okna vesmíru dokořán (Windows of the Universe Wide Open), and he has also illustrated a number of books and magazines, including several from the pen of Jaroslav Foglar. He was the brother (identical twin) of photographer Jan Saudek. In 2009, three of his comics - Muriel and the Angels, Lips Tullian and Arnal and Two Dragon Teeth - were ranked in the top ten of the Komiksárium poll, which sought the best Czech comics of all time. This made him the most important Czech comics creator in history. His (and Macourek's) comic Muriel and the Angels won the poll.
