The Modniks made me think of another fun mashup, but not the same company. Gold Key's Mod Wheels and DC's Hot Wheels. DC's Hot Wheels was licensed from the all but forgotten Saturday animated cartoon show which in turn was licensed from Mattel's line of toy cars. And we thought toy merchandised TV shows began in the 80s! But have you ever noticed, the faces at the top of the Mod Wheels comic look like the same teens as on Modniks, only realistically painted instead of cartoony!
