Hello from BC Canada!
« on: October 24, 2010, 04:52:10 AM »

Hi all.  I stumbled across this website a couple hours ago and was simply floored at what I found.  THIS IS TOO COOL.

I am an avid silver age reader, however I have, for the most part, filled my boots with it.  I love it but its time to broaden my reading horizons abit.  Ive always been intrigued by the Golden Age stuff, but do not have the funds to really pursue that as part of my collection, however, it occured to me that if I tried to enjoy them digitally I could find a whole new world of comics.  I never once thought that would be a real option though, really didnt think there would be much demand for scanned golden age material.  It would appear Im MORE then wrong.  What Im specifically excited about is reading early Kirby and Ditko work, as well as Better/Nedor/Standard/Pines Publication stuff.  Also, the horror lines look crazy, too fun.

My personal fav artists are Kirby, CC Beck, Ditko, and Jack Cole, cannot get enough.  I do hope I end up finding many more favorites, but where to start?  Should prove interesting.

One last thing,, Im curious what everyone is reading on,, has anybody gone out and purchased an Ipad or some such similar device,   Or is everyone still on a monitor?

Ok, thanks so much and look forward to chatting with everybody.  Hope I can contribute to the site in someway in the future.

later! ;D

O_M_A_C welcome to our fold. There is such a wealth and variety here you can never get it all or even enough. You will find characters and artist of all types. Check out some of the other forums for a variety of topics. Also site owner Janus is working on soon providing an ipad, etc app for the site. We look forward to you joining in the conversations. That is one way to achieve VIP status and unlimited downloads. The other is contributing cash or scanned comics. We are still missing a lot of PD silver age Charlton comics if you happen to have any to provide. Lots of Ditko there.

Hello Narfstar.  Thanks so much for the hello!

So I have not finished reading all the rules as of yet but recall reading that absolutely no books after Dec.1959 are permitted.  You brought up the PD stuff of Charlton from the silver age,, just wondering how that works and where the silver age section is, if it exists.

Also, a follow up question.  I saw that you are only permitted a certain amount of downloads per month.  Where would I find my allowed ratio?

BTW, this will tell you what you have, not what you are permitted per se. That will not be worked out until our site upgrades are online. For now, resets are monthly, with generous amounts for regular contributors to the forum conversations. ::hint hint kick kick::   ;D

Hi, O_M_A_C- I'm also from Washington state. If you ever get to the eastern part, stop at Merlyn's or The Comic Book Shop in Spokane. Cheers, Bowers
