This is a milestone comic in my virtual news stand march thru time. It's interesting that it's called Amazing Mystery Funnies because this issue is definitly moving away from the funnies style Comic books prevelent at this time. I imagine that by march of '39 the success of Superman must have been known in the industry and Science Fiction must have been viewed as a new trend. The art of Carl Burgos and Bill Everett is totaley different then anything i've seen so far at the news stand. I see a big Flash Gordon movies influence in their work. different sized panals are also the harbinger of a new style emerging. To bad the writing did not match the magnificence of the art.the stories were not really engrossing or interesting. I think some were continuations. I thought the madhouse murder mystery by E F webster was weirdly interestig though
