Yeah, SOMEONE was sure watching THE AVENGERS when they thought that up. There were also a couple of TV shows that tried to do the same thing, only American style...THE GIRL FROM UNCLE, and HONEY WEST come to mind.
But I liked the idea of just using her smarts and skill set to get by.
One of the best things about it...her martial arts instructor was named I CHING. I mean, that name was almost a MAD magazine level of funny. Nobody MEANT it to be funny, but even as a kid I had heard about the I-CHING.

Konga #8
https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=34505

Yesterday I had the unenviable task of putting my 17 year-old dog down, and I am still adjusting to that.
So the Konga story got to me. The writer tells a story of Konga going out of his way to avoid violence and having difficulty, because of hsi great size, in finding somewhere to rest and have a quiet life.
Ditko's art is exactly right. From depicting the happy little monkey that Konga was, to what he later became.
Konga is a victim not a monster and this is excellent conveyed here.
Why he survived.
Interesting little '[doco']. Ditko art again.
The Witch Doctor's cure
After Ditko the art looks worse than it probably is.
Not a very convincing story. It lacks something.

Planet Comics #18
https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=57944
Dinosaurs in two stories here.
Just why would you do stories set in the future, on other planets and include Dinosaurs?
['Having just written that I was reminded of the DR Who episodes, 'Dinosaurs on a Space Ship']
Escaping On A Triceratops! | Dinosaurs on a Spaceship | Doctor Who
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbRCx3e2rfA
QQ - Were there ever Dinosaurs in Star Trek?
So here the Dinosaurs are just monsters to initiate a battle to fill out a couple of pages.
And badly drawn - especiailly after Ditko.
Like the cover tho.

Because dinosaurs are cool.  ;)

I think SF writer Joe Haldeman said one of his stories was rejected by Analog with the comment "needs dinosaurs" so he added a scene with the hero being attacked by a dinosaur and it sold.

Were there ever Dinosaurs in Star Trek?

Not classic Trek (no budget for it). I think the only dinosaurs came in the Voyager episode Distant Origin which featured a space-faring race descended from dinosaurs and they did have a hologram of a Parasaurolophus.

Here's some info about that episode:

Sorry to hear about your dog. It's always hard saying goodbye to our fur friends even when we know it's time.

The Konga story is the one I haven't read yet. After hearing your description, I will probably give it a miss. I don't do well with sad animal stories.  Still recovering from watching "Lassie Come Home' in my 30s.

Take care

Planet Comics

Mars, God of War

p. 2 - There's nothing better than contented women performing their daily tasks. Um ... :-\

p. 4 - Top left panel - I wonder why they didn't swap the word balloons round so they read in sequence? Would have been easy enough to do.

How does a huge dinosaur move with the noiseless tread of a mouse?

Costume-wise, we finally get a male hero in his Speedos/underwear while the girl is wearing respectable shorts  ;)

If the people on this planet are one million years behind earth, how were they able to build rocket ships? Even if the humans gave instructions, how did they manufacture the materials?

Did sabretooth tigers have fragile backbones? I did a quick search, but didn't find anything definitive.

Last panel of story - Mars looks like he's drawn on the front of the ship, but he speaks? Did I miss something? I don't understand.

Auro, Lord of Jupiter

I assume there's an origin story somewhere, but why is a Tarzan-like man on Jupiter with dinosaurs? Have to suspend more than the usual disbelief to make sense of this one.

How did Auro escape the attempt in his life?

There's a bit of a mishmash of eras in this one. Bixo looks like an ancient Chinese warlord.

This story didn't really work for me.

Overall

Although I like sci-fi, these stories were a bit too disjointed for me. Interesting selection, but I much prefer the Wonder Comics one.

Cheers

Wonder Comics #17
https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=69565
The March of the Dinosaurs
So, We have a Dinosaur Planet called Jurasia. Cute. Wonder who named it?
I will have to go back a few issues to find out who 'Dogface' is, I guess.
The dinosaurs here are mostly in the Background of a battle between Wonderman and Dr Voodoo.
They are depicted on the splash, in the background on page 16,in one panel on page 18, and at the end, there is no battle as our heroes just fly up up and away and avoid them.
Disappointing for Dinosaur lovers!
Intersting that this book has a Wonderman story and then a Grim Reaper story. The Marvel Wonderman has a brother called The Grim Reaper.
And here is another strong female character, Jill Trent - Sciencesleuth  - A female detective who uses Science to solve crime.

QQ is here tomorrow.
cheers!

(1) One would think that by naming the "dinosaur planet" Juras(s)ia, that the author and/or artist would design the dinosaurs to match or be similar to known dinosaurs fro the Jurassic Period, as known in the early 1940s.  However, the so-called "dinosaurs" don't look anything like the known dinosaurs of that day, or even what we know now.  They look like fantasy dragons, whose designs look more like lizards, and some primitive giant reptiles.

(2)  I agree 100% that dinosaur lovers (of which I was during the late 1940s and 1950s) were disappointed with this story, because they are more like just part of the setting of the story, as opposed to being a driving force in the plot.  And, IF those dangerous animals were such a restraint on the sentient beings of that planet progressing in developing their civilisation, how were they even able to build that modernistic city, and their advanced method of transportation, and develop such sophisticated, effective weapons???  Like so many so-called "Science Fiction" stories of that early period of the comic book industry (and, indeed, the older (but still going strong) pulp Sci-Fi industry, they are mainly fantasy, with little research into actual science, done by their authors.

Jungle Comics #11

Cover
Man that sauropod has an evil look on it's face. Is it confusing Ann for a fruit? ;-)

While otherwise well-drawn, I can't help but think Kaänga is fighting a slurpasaurus. Slurpasaurus is the term used for the old movie technique of gluing stuff to lizards and calling them dinosaurs.

Kaänga
Sadly drawing dinosaurs was not the artist's (Tuska?) strong suit.

Ah the dinosaur hops. That was an old idea where some scientists thought some dinosaurs hopped like kangaroos.

The story and art could have been better, but it was still a nice read.

Red Panther
It's easy to forget that like other companies Fiction House did have superheroes toward the beginning.

I was going to mock the idea of a costumed hero in the jungle, but then I remembered a rather well-known example who actually predates Superman, so uh, yeahhhhh... (and in some countries the Phantom's costume was colored red.)

Is 'disappeared into the jungle like a great red panther' an actual saying? I don't think I ever heard of a red panther before.

Camilla
Interesting. The artist (Mooney?) tried some interesting backgrounds occasionally. While tough Camilla is almost a damsel in distress in this story.

Roy Lance
Fast-moving and a little weird.

When the Drums Stopped
Okay text story.

Fantomah
Interesting. Kind of annoying that some stuff happened off-panel rather than Fletcher Hanks actually drawing it.

Simba King of the Beasts
Never really a fan of these animal stories, but it was otherwise okay.

Capt. Terry Thunder and Kismet the Camel
Which is more annoying? Joe Camel or Kismet? I'm thinking Kismet.

Tabu
I overlooked this story having a dinosaur.

A Brentausaorous?
I know they didn't have the internet back then to check spellings, but was it really so hard to open a dictionary, or go to a library, to find the correct spelling of brontosaurus?

Reptilean? Oh, this guy's a chronic misspeller. It's like reading some webcomics.

Wambi
Okay.

Konga #8

The Land of the Frozen Giants
Interesting to see some of the now out-of-date ideas here: brontosaurs in swamps, the age of dinosaurs only being a million years ago, no feathers to be seen, a giant pteranodon rather than the azhdarchids that were discovered later.

Simple, but fun.

The Meldown Man
Interesting.

Why He Survived!
Eh, flawed but okay.

The Witch Doctor's Cure
Eh, feels like the type of short I've seen a variety of times.

Planet Comics #18

Mars, God of War
As a concept, this series seems odd. “We're going to do a science fiction series about a Roman god in space!” “Wha???” Kind of like if J. K. Rowling decided to write a new book titled Harry Potter In Space!

A very simplistic story. Once again the idea that dinosaurs were around a million years ago comes up (65 million years, writers, not 1 million. I guess the movie One Million B.C. was more influential than I thought.)

The spaceship being crushed by a dinosaur falling on it just made me laugh, denting maybe, crushing? Was the hull made out of recycled aluminum cans?

Somehow we're supposed to believe that the men and women will go back to the way things were. Uhhhhh... yeah.... I don't think so.

The Red Comet
Okay, but it didn't feel so much like a story, but a bunch of action scenes strung together.

Norge Benson
Almost feels like a funny animal comic.

Auro Lord of Jupiter
Jupiterian? It's Jovian.

The brontosaurus looks like the one from the cover of Jungle Comics #11.

The Temple of Time
Voices from throughout time drive people mad? I suppose, but I don't think the writer did a good job selling it.

Reef Ryan
Odd that they would call a sci-fi hero Reef which sounds more nautical than outer space.

Gale Allen
A scantily clad girl and a tentacle monster??? Oh, wait, this is an American comic book, not a manga. ;-)

Star Pirate
Yikes! I'm not sure what's worse the lazy transfer of pirate tropes to outer space, the bad science, or the artist making mistakes like leaving the hero's space helmet on at times when other characters aren't wearing any, getting knocked unconscious despite the protection of the space helmet, and walking the plank into space while wearing a space suit. Urrrrrrrrrg!

Flint Baker
So the prince has Prince Valiant's hairstyle? Well, I guess he must be royalty. ;-)

Wonder Comics #17

Cover
While Alex Schomburg gets a lot of (deserved) credit for his frenetic Marvel covers I also like his 'simpler' covers that he did under his pen name Xela for other publishers.

The Eight Hands of Tenslith!
Those... um... breathing helmets are very strange. Near as I can figure a person would have to put their arms over their head as something slides it over them, they have to stick their arms through the armholes, and somehow the opening must shrink to make a tight seal around their mid-sections. I think I just put more thought into these things than the artist did.

Otherwise an okay story.

Magic Glow
Not bad.

The March of the Dinosaurs!
It's not often you see a sidekick hit the hero over the head with a pipe intentionally. Snicker.

Okay story.

Tara and the Space Patrol
Okay.

The Disappearing Room!
Okay.

Charley Ego
Cute.

The Freezer Gas!
Except for the 'confusing the girls for the bank robbers' stuff it was okay.

Case of the Moaning Statue!
Slupersleuths? Judging by some of their mistakes, I'd say no.

Intersting that this book has a Wonderman story and then a Grim Reaper story. The Marvel Wonderman has a brother called The Grim Reaper.

Considering that Roy Thomas was responsible for the Marvel versions I'd think he did it intentionally. He loved those Golden Age characters.

Brent being a persons name, i assumed that this was a dig at a colleague of fthe writer, rather than a mistake.
It's not uncommon for there to be in-jokes in comics and other creative work.
Kaänga for some reason was reprinted and was a regular comic in Australia.

Back in the day Marvel did a limited series of Hercules in Space. And Thor is a regular in space.
The more things change the more they remain the same.
J. K. Rowling has moved on from Harry Potter.

She writes Cormoran Strike, an ongoing crime fiction series, under the alias Robert Galbraith.

Already had his own BBC series. Not bad, actually.

But of course.
