That was a good guide to comic book histories.   To that I might add Mike Benton's various comic book history volumes, which are great basic guides to various genres of comics (I really wanted him to tackle war comics, but he never got around to it).  But shun the infamous Crawford's History of Comics!  Unless you just want the reprints he put in it.  Almost everything in that book is a botch.
