In case anyone didn't get the word, it's Free Comic Day tomorrow! Doesn't appear to be quite so many offerings this year, but the price is right! A great day to hobnob with fellow collectors and support your LCS! Cheers, Bowers

Our local library was a venue for Free Comic Book Day and it was packed.  There was a queue at 10 am when they opened.  Helped by the library having a sell off of old G.N.'s and tpb's dirt cheap.  I picked Archie digest; Future's End; Vwars.
There was an odd moment when a big bloke in a Marvel t-shirt wandered in and had a look at the table.  He took nothing and started to wander off saying something like, hmphh, nae Marvels, and shaking his head.
Apart from that it was a good morning, well supported by local people and especially good to see parents bringing in their kids and picking up comics for them.

As I mentioned before, not as many choices this year. I did pick up a "Buck Rogers" featuring some reprinted strips and a taste of Chaykin's newer stuff as well as a Don Rosa "Uncle Scrooge" and a few others for the granddaughters. Lots of fun with people in costumes - my youngest granddaughter enjoyed being stalked by a Stone Angel. Don't blink! Cheers, Bowers

My LCS was packed when I got there yesterday afternoon,  It was wall to wall people and, of course, it was also our first 100 degree day of the year!  The shop's poor AC unit was struggling valiantly to keep it cool inside but was only having limited luck.

Things had been pretty well picked over by the time I got there and I only snagged 2 freebies this year- Fantagraphics Don Rosa Uncle Scrooge/Donald Duck book and Bongo Comics Free-For-All!

There were a number of people in costume.  The one that most impressed me was the Golden Age Sandman (gas mask version) which is one you don't see that often.

Best

My local comic shop was supposed to be part of the Free Comic Book Day France (which is the same as in the US, except with a couple of titles exclusively produced by French publishers - one Spider-Man and one with various stories from Dark Horse). It was really no use running to it, alas, because the only one they'd got was the Spider-Man from Panini Comics - and only the "subscribers" of the Spider-Man magazine could have it.

So disappointing. I hope my shop will really be part of the next event, which is "Les 48h de la BD", an French equivalent when French publishers are giving away some of their own production. 8 titles only (all French and Belgian except for the French TPB of Batman Gates Of Gotham), but hardcovered ones: http://www.48hbd.com/100000-bd-offertes.html
