Lately, I've been listening to THE MYSTERIOUS TRAVELER before I go to sleep. I listened to "Murder in Jazz Time" last night and it was one of the best I've heard. The ending is par for the course with these suspense radio shows, but that just seems to be there as an excuse for doing a story about the jazz scene in New Orleans. Well worth a listen.

I should also add that this radio play features Joan Alexander (the voice of Lois Lane). However, her singing is covered by Hazel Scott a famous jazz singer and piano player of the time (she's seems to have played the piano in this story, as well). Ms. Scott was African American (born in Trinidad and Tobago), while Ms. Alexander was Lebanese American (born in Minnesota). As none of the characters are identified by skin colour, you can imagine them however you want. Which is the beauty of radio.
