I know my problem the first time I used the upload link was not hitting "confirm" when it was done uploading; so my first try there was lost when I navigated away from the page.

Yep, I tried to upload this morning. I hit the confirm button, but nothing seemed to happen.

I had to go to work this a.m. so I could not pursue it any further at that time. So here I go again.

Hmm, have you double checked the FAQ BM?

If needed you can also upload it to a file host like -
http://www.mediafire.com/

And post the link here.  One of the gang can upload it for you but it would be for the best if we figured out where your uploads are going wrong.

Your final confirm, once the file has finished uploading for several minutes, should be a GREEN Message as displayed at the end of the FAQ.

Hi again bminor,
I hope you'll take a look at the new tutorial I've just added to the board devoted to using the Upload page for adding scans.

Check it out here: http://tinyurl.com/9xlrh6
I've included screen shots of every step to help.

Good luck!

It appears as if there is something funny about my .zip files, that is the .zip files I make on my Mac. I make them as a .zip file then rename the extension to .cbz or .cbr (I have tried both). When I hit the confirm button, my mouse pointer become a little wheel and spins, and I can see that my browser is trying to connect and send the file, but no dice!!! For some reason the file is not sent.
I did do a few simple tests and just uploaded the .jpg of the cover file and it worked just fine!!!
I also did notice that while trying to do some browsing in other Firefox windows on the net, everything was really slowed down. So something fishy is going on. As soon as I cancelled the upload of the .cbr file, everything seemed to resume the normal speed.
Hmmm.... I have already spent two hours this morning trying to debug this thing.
I will keep you all posted. Any ideas on a different .zip programs for the mac beside what it comes with?
I am going to work now and think about this.
Thanks everyone for your help. I really appreciated the update of the step by step instructions for uploading.
Yours,
B.

To clarify, while uploading the .cbr file I happened to be download a .cbr in a different window. Downloading a file usually takes perhaps 2-3 minutes, while trying to upload however it became 1-1/2 hours!!! As soon as I cancelled the upload of my .cbr file, it downloaded to my hardrive in a second.

Hi Brian,
Yes, best to only do one thing at a time as it's the same server on our end for both and you do only have 'x' amount of bandwidth total on your end as well.

So how about trying to upload your zip file to Mediafire site I mentioned above and I can take a look at it and see if there's anything wrong with it that would prevent it from uploading.

You might trying doing a Google for 'Mac'+'zip' or something to find alternative zip applications.

And PLEASE REMEMBER - CBR files Don't upload via the site.  I've tried it and they ALWAYS fail.  Please rename your Zip file CBZ or just upload the Zip as is.

REZ - Thanks for the kind words.  Just trying to keep GAC running smooth.  It's a class act site.  :)

Yoc,
Sent you a personal message and links to the WB 17 book, I hope it all works.

Your identification art, is that the prisoner? What exactly is the signifigance of the monkey face with the thick glasses?

How do you ad the I.D. art to your name?

Yours,
bminor

Huzzah it worked
Only problem being that you have 3 cover scans and the back cover comes after the cover rather than at the end. But the story pages are all in order and good to go. Thanks a lot bminor.

Yeah, I was a little confused by the extra cover scans at first, until I read the file names and looked closely at the third one. Very subtle, bminor, and nicely done. I do agree with narfstar that the sequence could be improved, but perhaps some of the more knowledgeable folks here can help you out with that.

BTW, sorry to report than none of these stories are by Matt Baker. He's a MUCH better artist than this. This is all done by anonymous members of The Iger Shop. You can check the Who's Who (http://www.bailsprojects.com) for a list of possible candidates from 1955. Sadly, the WW has way too many credits for Baker, including a career at the Iger Shop that actually ended in 1949 at the latest (I believe 1948, but that's just my opinion). Put Matt Baker into the search field on the bailsprojects site and then check the "Iger Shop" entry for a more realistic appraisal of his tenure there. (Odd that they could get this entry right and the Iger Shop tenure listed under the Matt Baker entry so wrong...)

By 1955 Matt Baker was just ending six years at St. John (the last five as Art Director) and beginning to work at Atlas.

Welcome to GAC and I hope you find many more comics to scan.

Peace, Jim (|:{>

Hi bminor,
I've just sent you a PM on your upload.  Things are close but there's still a couple of wrinkles to sort out.
I've uploaded a corrected version to the site which will read in the proper page order.  I used your 'white pages' version.

I'm a big Prisoner fan.  The Monkey face is my 'avatar' for the last... 9 or 10 years.  I've used him in a number of MonkeyNFO pages for books I've scanned or edited.  It's just my silly way of having fun.  Many scanner have 'id pages' in their files.  This is mine.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'How do you ad the I.D. art to your name?'  Do you mean how do I get my posts to show the Prisoner avatar?

First I uploaded a 125x125 scan to Imageshack.com.  Then I came here and hit 'profile' at the top of the page.  In Profile on the left I hit 'Forum Profile Information'.  It's in there you can add the 'direct display' link provided by Imageshack.  Just past the URL in the 'I have my own pic:' entry.  If you did it right the uploaded picture should appear at the top of the page within seconds.  The 'I will upload my own picture:' option does not work on the site.  Sorry.

Thanks again for the WB18 scans!   ;D

Thanks for all the help everybody!!!

I just am so happy to contribute a little to this ongoing project that you have going here.

I have been looking for a site like this for more years than I like to think about.

There are a lot of books in my collects, unfortunately most are not in the public domain. I do have a few though. It is just a question of finding them! They have gotten mixed up a bit over the past few years. Up next I think will be Johnny Law Sky Ranger #1.
Thanks again,
bminor

Hi B,
There was no Wonder Boy 16 from Ajax (17,18 only) so it's most likely a reprint though I don't see it on the IW-Super list either.

I think it's Terrific Comics 16; if I recall correctly that had a small "Terrific Comics presents" tagline above a Wonder Boy logo.  It's been misidentified several places.

You're right, Eric,
I just downloaded it to look at it. The "Terrific Comics" is mighty small!
