Dick Tracy and Company.
« on: September 21, 2008, 07:24:48 AM »

I Have a couple of issues of Dell's 'Super Comics' (007+008) from 1938 that I have thought about scanning in the past but have been put off fearing that most of the material taken from newspaper strips is not public domain but seeing the recent appearance of Mr. Tracy on this site i'm now begining to wonder if these two comics MIGHT be OK for this site after all.

The other features in this title apart from Dick Tracy are :

Terry and the Pirates.
Orphan Annie
Little Joe
Smokey Stover
Smilin' Jack
Tiny Tim
Moon Mullins
Winnie Winkle
The Gumps
Gasoline Alley
Harold Teen
Spooky
Streaky
Smitty.

So how would this stand as regards PD ?

Given the 'Green Light' I will see about getting them scanned and uploaded.

Hopefully Aussie sees this Nigel but I suggest a private PM might work better.
Please be patient for any reply.

No Problem, i'm not in any mad hurry to scan them but it would be nice to know that there would be a good home waiting for them as and when the mood does take me to scan them.

Well we can always find a good home for them anyway, but unfortunately it will take me some time to be able to check anything involving early serial copyright renewals, sorry about that Nigel.

Oddly, https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=72741 (Super Comics) says that it was necessary to remove copyrighted Dick Tracy pages, yet the Dick Tracy pages on https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=20564 (Popular Comics) are still present. Why is that?
