I'm sure there were plenty of people in the 1940s who'd find it objectionable. But, hey, majority rules, eh.

Also, interesting what words are verboten. I'd rank "injun" much higher than anything I've written, seeing as it's a racial slur.

Powpuck, The book is a time capsule from 1940's America.  It espouses 1940's American culture and opinion. Deal with it.     

Those who don't learn from History are doomed to repeat the course in summer school, or something like that.

Editing out the bad parts has never worked out well.
