@ positronic1. They are his night vision goggles. He does wear them in a few issues.

Yeah, I kind of thought that's what he'd use them for, night vision goggles, like a cat can see in the dark... but I kept flipping through the stories, looking for an example of him using them, and never found one. Then when I noticed him piloting the Cat-Jet several times, I thought maybe it was just some kind of hip jet-pilot fashion accessory. But he's got a sealed cockpit, so why would he need aviator's goggles?

Let me know if you know where I can see a story where he actually uses them at night.

Fighter pilots usually wear googles or lower face shields when expecting combat, in case the canopy is hit and glass shards fly everywhere. Also necessary when ejecting.

Yeah, funny thing about that... Cat-Man never seems to actually wear the goggles over his eyes (only on the top of his head) when piloting the Cat-Jet, either. Of course I never saw him eject, so maybe he's just being cautious -- or not cautious enough, if his canopy happened to be hit when he wasn't wearing them.

I will say that this Cat-Man appeals to me a lot more (it's much better drawn, for one thing) than the old (Holyoke Publishing) Cat-Man. I guess DC must have trademarked their (Batman villain) version of the character by now, but I'm not sure how (or even if) trademark law applies internationally.
