Pre-Code horror comic cover
« on: June 17, 2019, 12:25:14 AM »

I remember a pre-Code horror comic from its cover. I thought it was Comic Media but it wasn't amoong the two CM horror  titles I went through here's covers.
It showed a gigantic serpent/snake wrapped around a NYC/-style skyscraper - perhaps the Empire State Building or Chrysler Building, perhaps a generic one, its mouth open and forked tounge sticking ou. It was a highly memorable cover!
The story may have had an odd twist to it too, which I will get to late...

...Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
BTW, the " Snake " does not end with the twist I remember, obviously it was from something else, if it existed at all.
ThepPre-Code horror story I remember had a monster stopped ~ when a mysterious figure ame along and did thiings to drivhe the monster away, with his powers. This was a mystic/bohemian-looking man, with a beard and long hairand long white robe, who was shown only briefl yand not referred to by name or really closely ~ In other words, this story had Jesus Christ appear bodily to destroy/drive away the monster (not referring to Him by name but it was clear whom it was supposed to be) with His powers. Talk about your dues ex machina!

...It was interesting to see future MISS PEACH/MOMMA syndicated strip artist Mel Lazurus's credit on the title! Mel wrote a humourous prose novel set in a comic-book publisher, THE BOSS IS CRAZY, TOO. Have you ever read it? I have, but loooonng ago.

I'd love to be able to re-read The Boss is Crazy Too. It was supposedly inspired by his time at Toby--though Toby, no matter how odd, couldn't have been as nuts as the publisher in Lazarus' book. I loved the notion of Smelluscomics. They hired a bunch of laborers to rub the pages of the comics with fruits and the like to give them a certain aroma...a very funny book.
