The original "Turok Son of Stone" mixed Native American culture with Science Fiction.

Also you may wish to study the Mythology of the Cherokee.
You can find several sources at the Sacred Texts Archive.
There are tales of invisible warriors that used weapons that could shoot around trees. That particular legend persisted through the Civil War times.
There are the "Thunder Bird" legends in which two totally alien races, one intelligent predatory birds that ate children, the other a race that protected the Cherokee against their own ancient enemy. fought with weapons of lightning that left only ashes and shattered bone.

The "Sunken Round Houses" is particularly wild. An alien race warns the Cherokee against leaving their round houses for several days while earthquakes destroyed the land. They levitated the houses with the people inside, warned not to make a sound during the process. Some failed to remain quiet and their houses fell into a river.

Much of American Indian Mythology reads like science fiction.
