He was good - I particularly like the one of the guys playing chess


I also understand Ferstadt ran his own studio, doing work for publishers like Fox and Ace. I suspect panels like these were either done by Ferstadt himself or in the style of him.

While there were great comic artists in the Golden Age who were largely self-taught, it is a revelation to find how many Golden Age artists had serious training and went on to prodigious careers in various arms of the serious Art World.


When asked what he regrets in his life, Pablo Picasso replied: "That I have never drawn a comic in my life."

That looks to me like Sekowsky had a hand in it - even if it is signed MikeRoss. He was known as having ghosted for many of his friends.

Schenk (I?ve also seen it spelled ?Schenck?) very much conveys that fantastical feeling of art in the spirit of Little Nemo I felt, in which he not only draws interestingly, but uses the setting to his full advantage in creating an experience as well.
