A separate company. The tea company was started by Joseph and Edward Tetley. The brewery was started by Joshua Tetley. Wikipedia doesn't mention any relation between them, but as both companies started in Yorkshire you'd think they must have some ancestor in common.

Tetley's Tea (owned by the Indian company, Tata) has a good reputation whereas Tetley's Bitter (Beer) was considered suitable only as a drain cleaner. It led to a long-standing joke in student circles that if you needed a stiff drink, you should stick to the tea.
