Wow, a vast improvement in the art compared to the dreadful first issue of this series. The main characters nicely resemble their TV origins both in character and performer. Actually a pleasure to read despite the limitations of story, but that’s to be expected given the source material. I loved the TV show as a kid, but watching it now, not so much. Despite the excellence of all the actors, the stories too often resort to I LOVE LUCY levels of ridiculousness, like a character not being recognized by others because he’s wearing a funny hat. Still though, extended scenes with Joe Flynn and Tim Conway together are pure comedy genius, as is their theatrical film, McHALE’S NAVY JOINS THE AIR FORCE. Anyway, the comic is readable on a lazy ass day. But someone really should tell Commander McHale to skip those Hershey bars as he’s really got some bad acne in this story.
