[Quirky Quokka]

I assume this is the same artist who did Archie comics in the 50s and 60s? The style is very similar. Tippy looks very much like Betty and some of the other characters are also similar. Very distinctive style.

I am ashamed to admit I went through this whole thing.  I think the work of different artists appears, but notice on page 33 of the scan that "Doug Crane" signed this page.  Crane was an animator as well as comic artist:

He worked on Tippy Teen first, and later moved to Archie.

Interesting that this colouring book has rather more pages than the usual (like Tower's comics) and includes actual (probably reprinted) comic stories, not just the random one-pager drawings (although there are lots of those, too).  Also, quite a few blank pages!  "For the kids to draw their own stuff"--sure, that's what they're for.

No need to be ashamed. It was all research, right?    I'm a child of the 1960s, but I only remember Archie and the Gang in comics here in Australia. I still like Archie, and have bought a few new Archie comics this year. I've had a look at a Tippy's comics and will have to read a few. It's the sort of thing I would have loved back then. The art in Jetta is also similar, and I've read one of those. So many nostalgic rabbit holes to explore.
