My favorite Charlton cover! Drawn by Bill Molno and Vince Alascia, and a classic example of the wonky, surreal pop cosmology of the 1960s, as manifested in comics, on TV, and on screen. Our solar system's position in our galaxy (and its distance from our planetary neighbors) should have been common knowledge, but Charlton--along with TV shows like The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone--gave little attention to such details. Here, a green star (!) looms in the sky, with a guy in skivvies beaming down onto a crowded downtown street. Was the crowd on its way to a play or movie, or returning from same? Nothing conveys crowd panic quite like a public trash container tipping over!
