The drawing is pretty good but for some reason white "halos" have been painted around the characters in many panels. It's quite distracting, and in most cases the art would still have read just fine if the backgrounds had been allowed to touch the figures. I wonder if this was a boneheaded decision by the editor rather than the artist's idea. In some panels when background hatching touches the figures the result reads without a problem. Maybe the editor wanted to be sure readers saw every inch of the main figures. Instead it looks like they've been cut from a separate piece of paper and pasted into the scene.
