« on: May 09, 2011, 08:07:58 PM »

For the past two weeks, our computer has been shut down by a virus callled WINDOWS COMPLETE, which is an updated version of WINDOWS PROTECTOR, the virus that shut it down last time and caused the replacement of the monitor.  Consequently, this message is being typed in from a computer at the library, and we can't access the Internet from home with our computer.

That sounds familiar...is your computer even capable of turning on, if so, can it maintain a brief connection to the internet?

Let us know, and I hope someone can help you out.

Sorry to say this, glammazon, but as far as I know windows protector is a fake antivirus program, mimicking Microsoft Security Essentials.
Instead of protecting your pc, it places a trojan on it.

When I got a trojan in the past I easily got rid of it using Malwarebytes.
It's freeware and if you're not able to get internet acces, but are able to use a USB stick you could do following:
Download and install Malwarebytes on the USB Stick elsewhere.
Plug the stick in on your pc and let the Malwarebytes program run.
If there is an infection it will 'kill/delete' it.
No special knowledge asked for it to do so, the screens what to do are there in the program.

Hope I didn't cross a line by mentioning a program by name, if so: sorry :(

It is a need to know thing. I use Malwarebytes and the tech guy here at school uses/recommends it.
