NEW HERE- ARTIST
« on: March 17, 2007, 05:28:03 PM »

HELLO from Buffalo, New York- Just discovered this gem of a site by googling GOLDEN AGE COMICS. Oddly, I wanted to read GA comics for free and didn't even ad "READ", "FREE" as search terms and bingo, I found this site. It must have a lot of traffic...

Now, if anyone can help.... I don't know how to open certain files on my computer. I've a Mac users. Can any  one tell me what programs to use to open given files such as .cbz, .tar, etc...

Thanks for your help.

If that url you posted is your art...  I'm impressed!  Nice dinosaur!  What's the name of your comic?  Black Spade?

Hi Cimmerian-
Yep, that's my art. Look around that site to see more samples.

I'm having trouble viewing .cbz and .cbr files when I download them.... what programs can I use to view the comics at this site???

  Cheers - SteelyDon

SteelyDon,

Welcome to the site.  And, yes, it is an unbelievable resource, isn't it?

Check out the Digital Comics Help section. Serj has been kind enough to sticky the answers to all of your .cbr (rar) and .cbz (zip) questions, along with a host of helpful links.

Haven't yet checked out your work, but definitely will.

Welcome SteelyDon

Like you, found this wonderful site by chance on google.  A dream come true of that old abandoned attic somewhere with its horde of GA comics. We have it here .. all that's missing is the smell of the musty pages.  Hopefully, the site will thrive & grow with worldwide support.

Visited your site & liked your artwork!

SteelyDon,

Great work. The eggshell (Egg Head) hat is a nice touch.

You may want to check these books out if you haven't already...

Magazine Enterprises: Thun'da King of the Congo 1 (An impressive all Frazetta issue scanned by the    Crom-tastic Cimmerian 32)

Fiction House: Fight Comics 53 (Baker on Tiger Girl and a mind-bendingly good Nick Cardy Senorita Rio story)

Unsorted Publishers: Terrific Comics 2, 5 (The interiors live up to the title)

Also, you won't find them here, but I'd recommend purchasing reprints of the earliest issues of Mad Magazine. Kurtzman and Elder define the Action/Adventure/Comedy genre.

  Hope that helps.
