Hi Rez,
Gee, this one was already done by Weirdmenace who did a nice job on it too.
I know it isn't on the site yet but it will be shortly.
Perhaps you have pick?

dang I wish I'd known that before I started. I'd looked in the download site and saw that No.36 was missing so started scanning.
I could have better used that time on a different book.

man, hate when that happens.

Might hold off on the Weird Horrors and go search thru my books for LB Cole covers instead as a thank you to darwin for providing so many great scans for the site. That is if I might have any he hasn't already found. :-\

Well, I have an LB Cole cover not found in the listing or in the unsorted files...Ghostly Weird #122 Star Publications 1954.
Before I scan is there any other place a scan may be found?
Was it YOC that said the National Comics #36 had already been scanned but I cannot find it anywhere in the lists and I sure do not want to repeat that fiasco.  :o

Cheers.

and while I'm at it I'd like to scan a Ditko cover also from 1954 'This Magazine is Haunted',#16 Charlton as it seems to have a similarity in a style theme with a certain floating on both covers that I have noticed on some of those '50s books.
I don't think it's just my imagination, but who knows? It's all good anyhow.

Those and the Weird Horrors book should keep me occupied for quite a spell.

Rez I have learned to list the books that I might scan before scanning so if they are available but not yet posted I do not waste the effort.  The admin have saved me a lot of time by letting me know something was available elsewhere.  I do not use DCC or Bittorrents and they pick up a lot of stuff there.

Gents,

There is this document called Thelist that is updated weekly and lists all known scans.  Here's a link to the latest copy of the list I have:

http://www.mediafire.com/?ehjotwxzqzs

I definitely like to check it before I do a scan to make sure I am not duplicating other's work

The Weird Horrors 007 you mentioned is scanned already (although it could use a cover upgrade.  It is such a cool and peculiar and unique Kubert cover, the existing scan's cover is a bit beat down) but the Ghostly Weird Stories 122 is not scanned yet  ;).

Hi Rez,
Sorry I'm not a Charltan collector so I've no idea if 'This Mag is Haunted 16' has been scanned yet.
Checking my own collection I find I do have a previous scan for Ghostly_Weird_Stories_122 made by someone called 'Habib' but I can happy tell you your scans are much larger and much less yellow so Thank-You for your hard work!!   ;D

Ok, that'll be the next attempt at scanning then. i'm waiting for some info that hopefully will be able to help provide better scans.

I'm thinking that I will continue to make the scans to include to the outside edges of the books and keep them raw and unaltered if that's alright.

The idear being others can later embellish the scans themselves if so desired.

I see there is not a 'Web of Mystery #12 Ace Publisher 1952' listed on the download site.
I'm a bit apprehensive of scanning my better quality books right now till I learn a bit more but am offering this title to see if it should be scanned or not.

Cheers

okay, now I have a folder of the jpg pages.
How do I get them in the CDisplay for transport to FTP?
Or should I just forget it and zip them then send?

Thanks

You zip them all together first then simply change the extension from zip to cbz and CDisplay will be able to read them.

To all,

Somewhere on here I saw a link to a program that will change the zip files to a .cbz but am having trouble locating the link.
Might anyone have the link available to post here?

Thanks

If you only have one at a time, using extra software isn't worth the trouble.  I'd just use Windows Explorer, personally.  Right-click on the ZIP file and click "Rename," then change the last few letters.  It's much more direct, and you're probably already using Explorer to organize your scans.

Rename only presents, for what I see as my access. the title I gave it.

I'd like to learn all this so a program link would be ok. But if I'm muddying the board with this prattle I could just sent it as a zip and be done with it.

Would a program address the whole zip file at once?

Oops.  I'm being a moron.  Sorry about that.

When you click "Rename," it shows the current name, yes.  But it's selected.  This means you have two options:

1- Type a new name.  When you type, any selected text is overwritten.

2- Edit the current name.  Hit the right-arrow on your keyboard, and you can backspace over the extension.  Or you can click.  That teeny little box works just like your e-mail program or the editing box on this forum.

Oh, don't click anywhere else between Rename and the change, whichever approach you use.  It won't hurt anything--it'll just take you out of "renaming mode."

Do you mean that your filenames don't show the extension .zip, .cbz, etc?
In that case you should open in one of the menus over the window (tools menu?)

folder options --> see configuration --> uncheck "hide file extensions...."

I don't know exactly the English menu names because I am using an Spanish edition of Windows XP.
You should be able to see the file extensions file.zip or whatever, and then clicking on the file names
you can rename. If you cannot,  then to open the zip file with CDisplay, just do

right click  --> open with --> choose CDisplay from the list of programs

It is also OK if you send by ftp just the zip file
