A pal has asked me about a comic strip adaptation of, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" and I immediately assumed there would be a 4 Colour version but no. He made the suggestion that it might have been found as a b&w reprint from Alan Class but it doesn't conform to the usual Class contents. Nor does there seem to have been a British WDL version, so I'm a bit stuck.  It's not listed on GCD, either.  Can anyone help - does it exist?

I've included a link for Wyatt Earp series comic books, there were 3 companies that put out a Wyatt Earp book according to the web page. That might help in this search a bit. We may have a few more Wyatt Earp books on DCM then here in the Charlton section for you to look at.

Thanks for the help and advice.  Just to update, I phoned a friend who is a bit of an expert on this stuff and apart from confirming that there was no 4 Colour version, he is also certain that there was no WDL British publication and he's reasonably sure that the story didn't appear in other British b&w reprints.  Still leaves having to check the Australian western libraries which would have been circulating here at the time. and that could prove very difficult.

Paw, can you clarify whether you are looking for a comic strip or a comic book adaptation of the film.  You mention both in your initial post.

Comic strip adaptation, I suppose, as opposed to photo comics.  For example Dell film adaptations.  But I think he is looking for any comic with The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.  I'm not sure if I've explained this well.

I think of a comic strip adaptation as one serialized in newspapers (such as Disney did with many of their movies over the years) and a comic book adaptation being those done by, for example, Dell in their Four Color series or Fawcett in their Fawcett Movie Comics.
I have found nothing, so far, that indicates that there was ever a comic book adaptation of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance but it's possible there may have been a comic strip adaptation that came and went in some newspapers and was soon forgotten by most people.

Memory is fallible - it's possible that he's misremembering another adaptation as TMWSLF.

Once again, thank you.  I'm sure you're correct and he's confusing it with another story from his childhood.  The reason I mentioned Australian comics is that I recently obtained 2 pocket size b&w Gunsmoke comics, one is the British version where the title was changed to Gunlaw (same as was done for the t.v. listings here) and the other is an Australian Gunsmoke.  Both are reprints of Dell issues in a small format and have photo covers.
I understand now what you mean by "adaptation" and I was conflating "strip" and "comic".  Sorry.

In this Wikipedia article it mentions that Gunsmoke had a comic strip that ran in UK newspapers under the title Gun Law.  I don't believe the strip ran here in the States.  Interesting.

Yes, there was a British newspaper strip, "Gunlaw" drawn by Harry Bishop and it's very good.  Not a lot of it is available but there is a reprint booklet from ADCCC and I have an 8 page story from a comic or annual, stored on my hard drive.  The strip was written by Allan Stranks, who is also famous for P.C.49 from The Eagle.  Now, can I work out again how to post a page on here?  It's worth seeing as the art is better than the Dell comics version.
I should also say that, and I admit I'm biased, we had some excellent newspaper strips in British papers.  e.g. Jeff Hawke; Garth; Carol Day; Jane; Buck Ryan; Paul Temple; Caroline Baker; The Seekers (John Burns - tasty); 4D Jones, many more.
