Hiya, Comic Book Plus!

Technically, narfstar and I have already met (to discuss the state of Jingle Jangle Comics here), but I figure it's still not too late for me to introduce myself.

I'm just a fiftysomething comic book addict for life (well, there was a mandatory hiatus while in high school, but that's nothing unique in this world).  Current likes:  The excellent new Popeye series from IDW; any bound collections of Golden Age titles and classic newspaper comic strips that I can afford; DC's Earth 2 series (which is perversely riveting with its rebuilding of the Justice Society from brick one, even though I still lobby for the return of the classic JSA when and where I can get a word in, waste of breath or not); writing long, clunky paragraphs like this one; and the boundless depths of the Comic Book Plus archive!

Short version:  I'm very pleased (and maybe humbled) to be on board.

Welcome to CB+, Burt.
I'd like to see the original JSA back also. Especially as I can't bring myself to start reading most modern comics again.

The only JSA I enjoyed was the team ups of the 1960's and the Showcase stories. Give me that JSA. Even some of the 1970's JSA was bearable. All Star Super Squad was not the greatest but it was better than nothing. But thats just my thoughts.

I am reading World's Finest but only the first issue of Earth 2 and I was not interested in it. It will not be the real JSA

Thank you, narfstar and paw broon!

It appears my view on World's Finest vs. Earth 2 is entirely the opposite:  WF #1 convinced me that it was the clunker of the two, and I haven't looked at that series again since.

And, again, I'll be the last one you ever hear arguing against the classic JSA!  In fact, I approached Earth 2 #1 thinking it was going to be an instant train wreck, but found my mind changed by the time I got to the last page.  True, these aren't the characters we know, but in my opinion, the new characterizations of Terry Sloan(e), etc., are strong enough to carry this series the extra mile.  On the other hand, if those pale imitations of "Power Girl" and "The Huntress" are later returned to the mix, that view may change again in a hurry.

(Memo to DC: Leave those **cough** "World's Finest" two on NuEarth, or whatever in the wide world of sports you're calling it now ... please.  And even if you have to reposition the classic JSA on an "Elseworld" or something, just do it and pick up where they left off.)

And now, back to more Golden Age goodness.   ;D

I guess because the Huntress and Power Girl were bronze age additions to the cannon they can be tinkered with and it is OK to me.

I suppose it's owning up time again but I enjoyed The Huntress and Power girl early stories.  Joe Staton, wasn't it?  As for Mr Terrific, I think with horror of the those "new" versions of him and Dr. Mid-nite.  Such great characters ruined.  But that's only my grumpy opinion.
