I've read most of it and I enjoy it.  I think it's by far the best Flash Gordon comic book series that doesn't have Al Williamson's name on it.

I'm not comparing it to any of the comic strips, however.  That's a different beast.

Zietgiest modernizes the presentation while trying to keep the original flavor.  (Many people want to redesign things far outside the original concept.  )  This series puts the Flash Gordon story up on a pedestal, glorifies it, tries to create an epic series that the property deserves--instead of just a bunch of one-off "adventures" that might be fun but don't add up to anything.

If it doesn't live up to that, it's not from a lack of trying.  It's a much better series than their Buck Rogers attempt.  That was a hard slog to read for me.

Not being the biggest Flash Gordon fan, it wouldn't really register much with me and it annoys me ( being a bit selfish here) that a number of the Indian comic sites carry so much FG compared to Indian created comics.  But he was incredibly popular so it's quite natural. Also, King Features seemed to get everywhere, so another reason Indian comics featured so much FG, Phantom and Mandrake.  But I'm about to upload a pile of Diego Valor comics so you'll get to see how the Spanish treated a space hero.  He's sort of like the Spanish Dan Dare or Flash Gordon, I suppose.  My problem though, is with Dynamite.  They seem to want to modernise, change, upgrade (ruin) these great old characters and I've found very little of their efforts to be successful.

(Note to Richard - It's O.K. I have links to a number of Indian sites with piles of original Indian comics, although most are probably too recent for CB+)
