Spacehawk pub dom confusion?

I used to think Spacehawk was pub dom, but then I saw the (c) inside the Fantagraphics book and it seemed to presume that Fantagraphics owned the copyright to the work. (Usually, reprints say something like 'original art in pub dom, but compilation is (c) whoever.'

Now I am confused about Spacehawk's copyright status.

The Spacehawk stories are PD and have been reprinted by several publishers since the 1970s.  However Fantagraphics worded the copyright notice in their collection it only applies to that particular collection.

Good to know.  I am enjoying the Spacehawk collection, and I didn't want to give it back!
