The Magnet
« on: March 07, 2013, 03:11:29 PM »

I've managed to upload the first year's content (1908 - 46 issues).

I note that I also managed to duplicate a couple of the earlier ones (nos 8 & 10) - was having connection problems so must have hit the add to database twice by mistake. My apologies.

Also issue 1 I must have forgot to credit Friardale for the original upload.

I didn't upload issues 3 & 16 as they had already been uploaded by Paw Broon, but I noticed the files are quite large 28mb and 96mb respectively - my files are 9mb and 6mb - If you like I can upload them as well to sabve some space??

What Mark said!
I've added the Friardale attribution plus an intro. to Magnet and deleted the duplicates.

Great introduction Paw, captures exactly what The Magnet was all about.

Thanks also for correcting my silly mistakes, I will be more vigilant in the future.

p.s. I am also a fellow Scot.

Excellent!  I'm just outside Falkirk and I'm curious to know where you are but don't feel you have to spill the beans.  Were you at the Glasgow mart last Sat?  I know it's a small venue, The Panopticon, but it was busy and, more importantly, lots of folk met others they only meet a few times a year and there's lots of catching up. Plus, the coffee and bacon rolls in McDonalds (no, not that one - the bakers) are great.
There is a mart in Edinburgh this Sat.  at the RAF club in Hillside Crescent, that's just a couple of minutes walk down from the Playhouse on the left hand side of London Road. (This info. from my pal Vince.)
I can't go as something has come up I can't get out of.
Mistakes? You don't know the half of it.  You should see the ones I make.

I'm in a small village north of Aberdeen.
I don't get to go to comic conventions - wife won't let me - so mostly online stuff.

OOOOPS sorry.  There are a few of your fellow N. Easterners who turn up at the marts.  Great patter. But I think there are occasional marts or similar in Inverness and at least in Aberdeen there are comic shops   - Plan 9 is still going strong.  Any way, at least here you can find piles of stuff to keep you going.
And if you're not already registered try:-

lots of interesting discussions.

No worries Paw. What I really meant to say is we have an understanding I don't force her to read comics and she promises not to drool when we watch George Clooney.
Just kidding, although she doesn't share my passion for comics (she wasn't really into them as a youngster) she doesn't discourage me, I just know that going to a Comic Mart would not suit her.
On the plus side she does share my passions for reading, films & TV (not horror though), music and of coursee pubs and our tastes are pretty much the same.
As you said there is tons of stuff here to keep me occupied for many years to come, and as its free suits me as a true Aberdonian.
Great to see so much British stuff as well from Bogof39 (does this person ever sleep, what an output!!). A huge thanks to see old favourites like Hotspur, Rover, Wizard even the School Friend (my sister used to read that). Don't know where to start really??
