Newton Comics
« on: June 09, 2013, 11:10:12 AM »

Daniel Best is crowd funding the first book ever about an Australian comics publisher, Maxwell Comics. Maxwell Comics was a short-lived publisher that specialised in reprinting Marvel Comics. Daniel has teased some of the material covered in the book,

Newton Comics - The Amazing Rise & Spectacular Fall is the story of one of the most infamous comic book companies that has ever emerged from Australia. The company existed for a mere 18 months from 1975 to 1976, starting with 30,000 copies of their first comic being shipped to one of the most spectacular implosions ever seen in a comic book company. Along the way you'll read about the incredible publisher, Maxwell Newton, and his impact upon the comic book scene in Australia.

The cover to every Newton comic will be shown and full details on their content provided.  Also on display will be the posters, the advertisments, the swap cards and much more.  Consisting of nearly ten years of research and drawing from sources as divrse as previously unseen Government documents, unpublished interviews with key Newton Comic staff members and research from some of Australia's best known and most respected comic book historians, this book will be essential for any and all comic book collectors worldwide.

This will be the first book devoted to a single Australian comic book publisher anywhere in the world.  It has all the right elements for a cracking story: politics, sex, drugs, drink, rock and roll, brothels, crime and comic books.  Comic books were never like this before or since.
